The Victorian 3D Society and the Sydney Stereo Camera Club alternately host the biennial Australian National Stereo Photography Convention. The first Convention was held in Canberra in 1967.
The 26th Convention was hosted by the Victorian 3D Society in May, 2019 in Maldon, Victoria.
The 27th Convention was hosted by the Sydney Stereo Camera Club in Parkes, NSW from Friday 4 to Sunday 6 March 2022.
The 28th Convention was hosted by the Victorian 3D Society in Cowes, Phillip Island, Victoria from Friday 3 to Sunday 5 May 2024.
The 29th Convention will be hosted by the Sydney Stereo Camera Club in Mittagong and Bowral, NSW from Friday 15 to Sunday 17 May 2026.
The 29th Australian National Stereo Photography Convention will be held in Mittagong and Bowral NSW. These towns which are only 5km apart are a favourite get-away for Sydneysiders and Canberians as they are located almost midway between these cities and easily travelled to by motorway or train. More importantly they are located in beautiful countryside with wonderful waterfalls and gardens abundant. Historically they are important as they are where Don Bradman and Mary Poppins, or should I say Pamela Travers, were raised and first played cricket, flew by umbrella and wrote. Also, Bowral was the home of Australia's first Prime Minister, Sir Edmund Barton.
The Convention will commence on the evening of Friday 15th May 2026 for early Registrations, with an array of projections and outings held over Saturday and Sunday at the Mittagong RSL and at Bowral. The Mittagong RSL is a superb venue with excellent projection hall and ambience. Bowral is a magical town to explore with a wide range of tourist attractions and shops to explore.
Both town's railway stations are on the main train route to Melbourne and an easy walk to the RSL or numerous accommodation venues. The train or road trip from Sydney both take one and half hours, and the train from Melbourne will take 10 hours.
We are also very fortunate in getting a very special price for taking a coach trip together to see some of the many wonderful waterfalls and other tourist attractions. We are purposely trying to make this Convention super easy to get to and to participate even without a car.
